Hartlepool Rovers Bolster Coaching Staff with Experienced Signing

James Isaacson Joins the Coaching Team

Hartlepool Rovers are thrilled to announce the addition of James Isaacson to their coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. Isaacson, with his wealth of playing and coaching experience, will join the current Rovers coaching team as a predominantly forwards-focused coach.

Isaacson's rugby career has been nothing short of illustrious. He honed his skills at Horden Rugby Club, Durham School and Northumbria University, representing England at the U21 level. Turning professional in 1997, Isaacson spent 8 seasons with the Newcastle Falcons, making 57 appearances. He then went on to play a key role in the promotion-winning squad of Leeds Tykes to the Premiership in 2007.

Seeking new challenges, Isaacson moved to the USA in 2007, taking up a player-coach role at Life University. During his tenure, he enjoyed tremendous success, winning several cup titles and further developing his coaching expertise.

Darren Smith, Director of Rugby at Rovers, expressed his delight at the new appointment, stating, "This is a fantastic addition to our coaching team. To have a coach with James' playing pedigree in the Premiership, as well as his international and high-level coaching experience in the USA, is a real coup for us."

Smith went on to highlight the immense value Isaacson will bring to the Rovers' setup. "He ran some sessions last season for us as a guest coach and the technical detail he brings is incredible, and it will not only support our players but also help up skill our current coaching staff, including myself. With the addition of James and the continued mentorship of Lee Hoggarth, I believe we now have an excellent balanced coaching team , providing an environment for our players to reach their maximum potential."

Pre-season training is well underway, and the club is encouraging any players interested in a new challenge or wanting to try their hand at rugby to reach out via the club's social media channels.
