Consett 2nds 57 - 7 Rovers Heughers

For the second week running the Heughers played against a side whose 1st team are 2 leagues higher. And this time the gulf in 2nd teams showed with Consett just too good.

Our cause wasn't helped when Billy Lloyd and captain Ste Railton's work kept them digging a hole at kick off and left us in one. We rejigged but injuries to key players in Mark Power, Chris Sainty and Davy Carroll disrupted us even further. Prop Tony Ross even ended up on the wing!

Despite the hard task the players never gave up and full credit for that. Our try was scored by Mr P.Enalty and was some reward for our efforts.

We take the loss and move on to next week against Horden. Positives for us were the spirit shown and the addition of two new players. Will Cornforth (who is Chris Sainty's wife's cousin and both are pictured) turned out and looks a good prospect with more experience to add to his impressive fitness. Also joining us was Jonathan Sanderson who had an excellent game in attack and defence and was a reliable source of lineout ball. Jon notched up a remarkable hat trick in that he was named man of the match for us after receiving the same award in his previous 2 games for Seaton Carew
