Seven tries and a final 46-20 scoreline was the perfect way to bounce back from a missed winning opportunity at Blyth and Rovers have it all to do again against Consett after a poor display at Gosforth.
Even in a division where teams are taking points off each other, the Whites would have been expected to have won at Druid Park against a side lying in second bottom place in the table and winless at home.
The Friaragemen came away from Gosforth with a try-scoring bonus point but that came with the last play of the match.
Rovers took a narrow 28-27 win in the home fixture last season with a stoppage time penalty by Michael Barnfield saving the day for his side.
The White Shirts will face a Consett team that has been in good form in recent weeks and who defeated Rovers in the Durham Intermediate Cup Final in May in Alan Brown’s last match as player-coach.
Rovers are boosted by the return of captain Andrew Dring and who will lead the side from number eight. Andrew Flounders is at hooker in place of the unavailable Jonny Cushlow. Ben Little moves from the second row to prop with Anthony Hanley and Andrew Pinchen the two locks.
In the backs, Ian Mulvihill is also unavailable and so David Grand moves to centre from the wing and will partner Chris Sainty who comes inside from stand off. The number ten shirt goes to Darryl Fawcett and he will have Steven Barnfield at scrum half. Liam Austwicke switches to full back and there’s a recall for Adam Smith on the wing.
On the bench are John Padgett, Tom King and Liam Armstrong.
Rovers: Austwicke, B Cushlow, Grand, Sainty, Smith, Fawcett, S Barnfield, Wise, Flounders, Little, Hanley, Pinchen, Grazier, Maddison, Dring (c). Subs: Padgett, King, Armstrong
