Hartlepool Rovers are gearing up to host Westoe Rugby Club this Saturday in the Durham Intermediate Plate final.
Rovers began their Intermediate Cup campaign with a first-round away match against Barnard Castle. Unfortunately, the team was depleted and suffered a loss, which resulted in their elimination from the Intermediate Cup and a drop into the Intermediate Plate.
Rovers were set to face Gateshead in the semi-finals after Gateshead forfeited their first-round match against Darlington. However, Gateshead were unable to fulfil the semi-final fixture, allowing Rovers to advance to the Plate final without having won a game in the competition.
Rovers will face Westoe, who secured their place in the final by defeating DMP Elizabethans in their semi-final match. A coin toss determined the venue for the final, and Rovers emerged victorious, granting them the advantage of playing on home soil at the New Friarage.
The final will be sponsored by the club's colts, under-16 boys and the under-18 & under-16 girls teams. The players and their families will be welcomed to the club for pre match hospitality. They will also be selecting their Player of the Match. This shows the clubs commitment to our junior teams and a thank you to those parents/carers who give up their time to get their kids to rugby
Supporters can enjoy the Florentine Coffee Van, and the newly erected can bar will be open, serving ice-cold cans. The new can bar is located next to the Oakes stand.
We will once again be implementing a one way system and closing off the roundabout area. The reason for this is that of safety for our younger supporters. Opening the door of the club onto a busy road is not ideal for young children and this reduces this risk. It also provides a safe place for children to play.
We hope to see a busy Friarage for the Durham Intermediate Plate Final.
