Womens and Girls Rugby - Weekend Preview

darren smith11 May 2017 - 09:21

Lots of women and girls rugby going on this weekend.

On Saturday night our u13s and u15s girls hold their presentation night within the club house. Both teams have had a very successful season and this will be celebrated at the glitzy event.

On Sunday 14th our u15 girls take part in a 7s tournament at Darlington Rugby Club. Kick off 11am. This will be a real test for the Rovers girls who will be up against unknown teams from Castleford, Sandal, and Kendal. Other locals clubs will also be there. This is a great way to end the season and give our girls some 7s exposure.

At the same venue Durham County Women's Development take on Lancashire Development, 1.00pm ko. Rovers have 7 ladies in the development squad which will be captained by our very own Danni. This is a great development for ladies rugby having competitive development games for those ladies that are pushing full county but maybe need more game experience. We are delighted to have 7 ladies involved with the development squad especially that most have only been playing since January.

At 2.00pm Durham County Women take on Lancashire in the County Championship. Our Ladies head coach and DMP Shark's player Emily Hunter starts at Hooker.

Good luck to all of our women's and girls taking part on Sunday.

We are holding our 2nd Inner Warrior female rugby taster session on Wednesday 17th May at 6:30pm. Any girls in year 6 to year 13 and any ladies 18+ are very welcome to come along to this free taster session and try rugby. Its commitment free and all you need is your usual gym gear. We have food afterwards, drinks, and a load of freebies to give away. We look forward to welcoming you to one of the best female rugby set ups in the region.
